Peniche has a mild microclimate over all with humidity being rather high all year round. However, in summertime exterior temperatures rarley go above 27°C making air condition units a redundant feature. In wintertime outside temperatures do stay below 15°C for an accumulated periode of time of two to three months. Even though outside air temperature mingles slightly below 15°C, it is often percieved as 18°C or higher while sitting in the sun. In general, rather excellent conditions to build houses that are comfortable to live in throughout the entire year one would think.
Especially in January and February temperatures at daytime linger around 13°C but sometimes drop to about 5°C at night. In total about 5 months can be found where some sort of heating is required. In summertime on the other hand temperatures above 26°C are a rarity and happen only for an accumulated 10-14 days a year. Now it should become evident why you would want your house to be well engineered and designed more thoroughly especially for the wintertime.
Peniche is quite a sunny place. In the summer months June, July and August there are more than 9 hours of sunshine recorded per day, on average. In the winter months from November through February there are between 6 to almost 7 hours of sunshine per day. On average roughly 1 hour less sunshine than Orlando (Florida) is experiencing.
